Information Governance

The session will begin at 10.00 (9.30am for registration and refreshments).
The session will provide a general overview of the requirements of GDPR and the Data Protection Bill, focussing on the major issues which will affect local authorities and where to focus attention ahead of implementation.
The session will include a section which focuses on an authority’s GDPR obligations as an employer including the reasons for processing an employee’s personal data, when an employee’s consent can/cannot be relied on, record keeping, retention periods for issues such as disciplinary records, the handling of medical information concerning employees as well as data protection breaches and subject access requests.  
The session will be delivered by Gary Byrne, Solicitor and Mark Leach, partner.
