DIRECTIONS FROM M62 MOTORWAY

Exit at junction 9 of the M62 and head South towards Warrington along the A49.

After 1.5 miles, continue straight through the lights, passing McDonalds on your right. Take the next right at Pentagon Ford onto Owen Street, at the T junction turn left onto Dallam Lane, entry to the car park (signed Car Park No 1) is on your right after 200 yards.

Course overview

This session will provide a practical introduction to working commercially and generating income for a local authority. We will look at opportunities for income generation and the legal issues associated with them, as well as the practicalities of business planning and marketing.

We will consider effective bid assurance – devising a governance structure and decision-making process that covers vires, regulatory compliance and local authority decision making whilst also enabling agile and business lead decisions to be made; invoicing and billing; changing the culture.

Suitable audience:

Practice Managers and Lawyers who are involved in providing services to clients outside their local authorities and any other income generation activities

Those attending will be encouraged to discuss the issues raised and how they will apply them in practice. The session will include a quiz.

This session will be delivered by Clare Hardy, a Senior Associate and core member of the Geldards Public Sector team and Robert Smith, Business Development & Marketing Director for Geldards.
