We are looking for a highly motivated lawyer to join the People Services Legal Team as a senior childcare lawyer, working in one of the council’s three busy childcare teams. The successful candidate will join a busy and supportive team of lawyers involved in a challenging and rewarding area of law.

We are looking for a qualified and highly experienced lawyer (solicitor, barrister or Cilex) who has an excellent knowledge in Childcare law and can work well under pressure.

Public sector experience is highly desirable, although relevant experience gained from the private sector will also be considered for exceptional candidates. Day to day responsibilities include managing a full caseload and providing advice and support to the local authority, in relation to all areas of childcare law.

The successful candidate will be able to prioritise their own workload and work to tight court deadlines; and will have good communication and presentation skills; work well as part of a team and be able on occasion to deputise for the team Principal Lawyers as required.
