NW Legal Consortium New Training Opportunity

11 Jan 12 10:07

You may well have seen the recent publicity about the launch of an exciting new E-learning website specifically for local government lawyers like you. The initiative has been launched by LGG Ltd and Local Government Lawyer. www.localgovernmentlaw.tv is offering a training program with a broad range of topics relevant to the public sector solicitor. Each webinar is accredited by the SRA and BSB.

The webinars are delivered by leading practitioners from private practice, at the Bar and in-house and cover topics relevant to the changing local authority agenda ranging from the Localism Bill and local authority joint ventures to renegotiating contracts and trafficked children.

As an introductory offer the first course is being offered free of charge. Each module thereafter would typically cost £50 +VAT to view but as part of a partnership with the Consortium we have negotiated a discount of 30%, reducing the usual rate to £35 + VAT per module for staff from member authorities. This discount also applies to packages.

This lower rate is applicable to all webinars purchased from now until the end of March 2012 - so don’t miss it! More details are available by logging onto the Consortium website at www.nwlegalconsortium.com

Additionally, those who attended our recent Consortium Annual Training Event may have seen Derek or Philip from Local Government Lawyer filming the sessions. This has resulted in webinars of the event being available for any colleagues that missed out the first time around - these can be accessed completely free of charge to staff from Consortium Member Authorities.

You can register with the site and claim your first free module at any time, but to receive further discounts and access the training event material for free, your organisation, as a Member of the NW Legal Consortium, must be registered on the Local Government Law website - so get this organised through your Head of Service and off you go.

To get your department set up on the system, please send invoicing details and any spending limit that should be applied to the account to Derek Bedlow at Local Government Law.tv. His email is derek.bedlow@localgovernmentlaw.tv and telephone is 0207 239 4917. Any technical or other questions you may have about using the site should also be addressed to him.

Once the organisation is registered, the user can download all course material and will have 14 days to complete a module. Users will be able to create a personal profile on the site to keep track of their training and print a certificate on completion of the training.  The webinars are also compatible with devices such as the iPhone and iPad.
