Democratic Services Manager

Salary: Grade 12, £45,859 – £49,427 per annum.
37 hours per week

Your role:

As Democratic Services Manager you will have overall responsibility for the Democratic Services and Mayoral functions.

You will have responsibility for the provision of support to Elected Members in carrying out their roles including the Mayor and Leader of the Council. You will have responsibility for the provision of committees and panels providing independent advice to Elected Members and officers.

You will identify and lead on new innovative ways of working to the Council’s Digital Strategy alongside the implementation of the Deal 2030 and keep abreast of new legislation, national and strategies governing the democratic function.

You will be responsible for providing leadership to a team of Democratic Services professionals and for the development of a client care culture which places a strong emphasis on collaborative working and shared goals.

About you:

You will have a professional level qualification such as Association of Democratic Services Officers (ADSO) Diploma or equivalent or can demonstrate a significant similar level of knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the role gained within local or national government.

You will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and professional individual who has significant experience of providing complex advice , assistance and guidance to Elected Members , Committees , and officers when making decisions. You will have a detailed understanding of a Council’s decision making process including its committee structure and function.

You will need to have experience of handling a personally handling a range of democratic and governance issues, assisting on Corporate and GMCA Regional initiatives within your area of responsibility.

You will need to engage, inspire and care to achieve service developments, transformation and a culture of continuous improvement.

You will need to have experience of work allocation, management of caseloads across a team ensuring that performance, efficiency and client care targets are delivered
