Interim Principal Solicitor

From: £54,714 To: £57,852 Per Annum

We are looking for a qualified solicitor with strong management and Local Government experience, to lead our Peoples Services Team, pending a restructure of the Legal Services Team.

You will be responsible for leading the Team and supervising the other team members. You will be responsible for providing support at a senior level for all of our clients across the range of work carried out by the team, including all legal matters relating to children, adult safeguarding and education.

You will need to demonstrate an aptitude for complex problem solving and the ability to work quickly and accurately, as part of a friendly and supportive team. You should be a qualified practising solicitor with at least 5 years post qualification experience in relevant areas.

The ideal candidate will have experience in advising in child/adult safeguarding and education and have supported a client department on an improvement journey. You will have a sound understanding of the decision making process in Local Government and be able to advise on aspects of Local Government Law.

You may be required to attend evening committee meetings, to provide supportive leadership, to motivate and develop high performing people and be open to new ways of working and service development, whilst supporting the management of the Team through effective performance management and use of IT systems.

We are looking for a talented, proactive, and pragmatic lawyer who is able to work effectively with client departments to find solutions. You will need to manage a case load as well as carry out management responsibilities.
