This session is part of the NWLC Trainee Programme but is open to all.

To be presented by Clare Hardy and Robert Smith, this session will provide a practical introduction to working commercially and generating income for a local authority. We will look at opportunities for income generation and the legal issues associated with them, as well as the practicalities of business planning and marketing.

We will consider effective bid assurance – devising a governance structure and decision-making process that covers vires, regulatory compliance and local authority decision making whilst also enabling agile and business lead decisions to be made.

Those attending will be encouraged to discuss the issues raised and how they will apply them in practice.
