Join Bethan Lloyd as she provides an overview of the system of subsidy control in the UK once the Subsidy Control Act 2022 is implemented.  It will be important for all public authorities to acquaint themselves with the new rules, particularly since the Subsidy Control Act 2022 significantly expands the scope of the current subsidy control rules.  Whilst the current rules are only engaged where there is a potential impact on trade between the UK and the EU, once the Act is implemented, the rules may be engaged whenever there is or may be an impact on trade or investment between the UK and any territory outside the UK, and also where there is or may be an impact on competition or investment within the UK.  The latter change in particular will result in a significant change in how any subsidy control analysis is carried out.
