This course offers an overview of the MCA, an Act which is designed to enable individuals to make their own decisions where possible and that outlines the legal framework for making decisions on behalf of those who lack capacity. The training includes the basic principles of the MCA, guidance on assessing a person’s capacity to make various decisions, and how to ensure decisions made are in the best interests of those who lack capacity. The training features case law examples, practical tips on problem areas such as fluctuating capacity, and includes a practical case study for the participants.
