We need an enthusiastic, passionate, and committed person to join the Corporate Information Governance Team within the Council.
The Access to Information role is an exciting new role that aims to ensure that we process Data Subject Access Requests effectively so that the Council meets the information rights of individuals appropriately.
\\You will have experience of processing information requests and be able to provide relevant education and awareness to staff that will support them around areas such as retention and managing and recording information appropriately.
You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and the ability to present complex information.
You will have a solid background of processing complex Data Subject Access Requests and knowledge of information rights law. You must be able to provide effective training by engaging with staff in a meaningful, dynamic, and relevant way.
Everyone who works for the Council probably deals with information, in some form, as part of their job. As a council we have to manage information properly to meet our business needs and the needs of our customers, particularly where the data we are handling is personal data.
The Corporate Information Governance Team supports this through managing access to information requests for the Council. This includes Data Subject Access Requests, as well as other information requests, such as Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulation, third party and access to deceased records.
We also lead on developing practical Council wide information governance solutions through the development of effective information governance policies and procedures. The team has also developed a rich Information Governance education and awareness programme across the Council that supports staff around managing information appropriately. The Access to Information officer role will play a key part in contributing towards this work.
