Administrative Assistant – Legal Services

Grade C, scp4 £21,189 to scp6 £21,968 per annum

Closing Date 3 July 2023

About You and The Role

Following a Service Review, Bolton Council is recruiting to several permanent positions within the Legal Services Team.

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised Administrative Assistant to provide support in ensuring the effective running and performance of the Legal Services Division.

You will be exposed to sensitive and sometimes distressing material involving children and adults and it is therefore important that you can work under pressure with challenging subject matters and are familiar with basic data protection principles. You will be required to attend mandatory training courses on handling, storage, and distribution of personal data.

You will need good and accurate literacy, numerical and administrative skills to complete tasks methodically and accurately within strict deadlines.

You must also be a strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills that can support colleagues with competing demands and build professional relationships. However, the ability to manage your own time and work on your own initiative when responding to a variety of clerical demands is also essential.

This role will require you to undertake several tasks highlighted in the job description, so you must be efficient with common IT systems such as Microsoft Outlook and Excel. You will also be expected to operate a case management system known as ‘IKEN’ which you will receive training for, therefore transferable IT skills are essential.

The team is supportive, friendly and will encourage your personal and professional development by regular supervisions, support, and training. A Principal Legal Advisor will also be available to support you with regards to your role.

Previous administrative experience would be helpful, but we are also open to candidates with a variety of experience who have the transferable skills needed and the ability to add value to an already established team.
