This is a rare opportunity for a talented lawyer to join the high performing, Lexcel accredited legal safeguarding team in Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, hardworking  able team player with a ‘can do attitude’. A desire to be an intrinsic part of a successful team is essential. The post holder will be required to provide high quality legal advice to Senior Officers and Members of the Council on matters pertaining to the Court of Protection, Mental Capacity, Adult Safeguarding, Mental Health and Inherent Jurisdiction and other social care related issues to ensure statutory duties of the Council are met and vulnerable adults in the Borough are protected.

In addition, the post holder should be able to demonstrate litigation experience, having ideally had conduct of their own caseload of adult social care matters.  Responsibilities will include provision of duty legal advice to social work colleagues, reviewing evidence, making applications, running a busy caseload, deputising for managers, attending meetings with service users, external professionals and lawyers as required.

The role is offered on a part time basis (4 days per week), permanent.

The salary range will be determined on experience of the successful candidate (please see job description and person specification).

Grade 10 – (SCP 31 – 35) (£35,336 – 41,440)

Grade 11 – (SCP 35- 40) (£41,440 – 48,120).

The contractual work location for this role is Chester however you may be required to work from a range of work locations or sites within the Borough and may also be required to work from home, depending on the needs of the service.
