The successful candidate will be a solicitor or barrister with an excellent working knowledge of the law relating to children. This post involves significant levels of advocacy including substantive contested hearings in the Family Court.

You will have good interpersonal skills, be able to prioritise your own workload and work to tight court deadlines. You will also have good communication and presentation skills, good customer care skills and good analytical and problem solving skills. You must be able to work as part of a team and be flexible, enthusiastic and committed.

The role includes providing a range of legal support to the Council’s People Directorate and in particular Children’s Services, including advising on pre proceedings work, care proceedings and adoption.

You’ll be skilled at drafting legal documentation, providing concise and clear advice, and carrying out legal research and analysis. You may from time to time be asked to take on challenges outside your field of expertise.
