We are looking for a highly motivated lawyer to join the People Services Legal Team as a childcare lawyer, working in one of the council’s three busy childcare teams. The successful candidate will join a busy and supportive team of lawyers involved in a challenging and rewarding area of law.

We are looking for a qualified lawyer (solicitor, barrister or Cilex) who has sound knowledge in Childcare law, can work well under pressure and has excellent organisational skills. An ability and willingness to transfer your legal skills, if required, to areas of the team’s work that are not currently within your expertise is essential.

Public sector experience is desirable, however, relevant experience gained from the private sector will also be considered. Day to day responsibilities include managing a full caseload and providing advice and support to the local authority, in relation to all areas of childcare law.

The successful candidate will be able to prioritise their own workload and work to tight court deadlines; and will have good communication and presentation skills and work well as part of a team.
