We are looking for 2 highly motivated lawyers to join the People Services Legal Team as childcare lawyers, working in a
lively and busy team of lawyers involved in a stimulating, challenging and rewarding area of law.

Grade: CEC NJC – Grade 11
Salary Min: £39,638 per annum
Salary Max: £46,028 per annum
Hours per week: 37

The successful candidates will be an experienced solicitor or barrister with an excellent working knowledge of the law
relating to children. This post involves significant levels of advocacy including substantive contested hearings in the
Family Court. Experience of social care law and advocacy is essential.

You will have good interpersonal skills, be able to prioritise your own workload and work to tight court deadlines. You will have good communication and presentation skills, good customer care skills and good analytical and problem solving skills. You must be able to work as part of a team and be flexible, enthusiastic and committed.
The role includes providing a range of legal support to People Service and in particular Children’s Services, including
advising on pre proceedings work, care proceedings, adoption; and supporting the senior lawyer in his or her role of
managing the team. You’ll be skilled at drafting legal documentation, providing concise and clear advice, and carrying
out legal research and analysis. Well-organised and adaptable, you may from time to time be asked to take on
challenges outside your field of expertise.
