Brighter Future

We are looking for an experienced and committed Lawyer to deal with a range of matters including:

  • Redevelopment/regeneration projects
  • CPOs
  • Asset disposal programmes
  • Infrastructure
  • Landlord & Tenant
  • Housing

The successful Candidate will be working as part of the Commercial Projects and Property Team which is a busy and supportive team. The Council is currently involved in a large number of high profile projects including infrastructure (link roads), major town centre and economic regeneration and HS2 and the role is a challenging and dynamic one.

Candidates will report directly to the Senior Commercial Property Lawyer and supervise colleagues in the Legal Service as appropriate. They must have the ability and willingness to expand their legal skills and to apply themselves to novel areas of the team’s work that may not be currently within their own expertise.

Candidates will have excellent communication skills, be able to work under pressure and to prioritise their workload to meet tight deadlines. They will have the ability to work collaboratively with project teams and client departments to ensure good client relations. They will be skilled at drafting legal documentation, providing concise and clear advice, negotiating and carrying out legal research and analysis. They will provide training to clients and stakeholders as required.

Experience gained in a Local Authority setting would assist as a sound understanding of local government and administrative law, and an appreciation of the challenges facing local authorities is key to the role.
