About You and The Role

Following a Service Review, Bolton Council is recruiting to several permanent positions within the Legal Services Team.

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised Disclosure Officer to join our Team to provide an efficient disclosure service for the Legal Services Division. The Disclosure Officer Role will sit within the Adult Services Legal Team and will undertake disclosures to the police where there are requests under the GM protocol or on Police Disclosure Forms. You will understand the nature of the types of information collected and stored by Local Authorities and will have an awareness of the duties of local government relating to social care file retention alongside GM protocols and Data Protection Legislation and Guidance. The ability to analyse, interpret and advise on evidence is required as is the ability to communicate confidently with internal and external stakeholders.

The role will support with any other disclosure requests or redacting required. When the caseload is less busy this Officer will need to undertake several tasks highlighted in the job description. You must have excellent IT skills, alongside the ability to use a case management system as you will be expected to familiarise yourself with the issues on cases and ensure the integrity of highly confidential information.

We are looking for candidates prepared to support colleagues who have competing demand, so our Disclosure Officer should be a strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills who enjoy working and contributing to a team environment. However, you must also be able to manage your own time effectively, working on your own initiative where appropriate to complete tasks accurately and to strict deadlines.

Previous experience would be helpful, but we are also open to candidates with a variety of experience such as legal experience or a law degree where they have transferable skills and would be a good fit.
