Leading on all types of employment claims:
• TUPE and outsourcing matters
• Complex discipline/grievance investigations
• Discrimination and whistleblowing
• Restructures and redundancies
• Trade union consultation and negotiation
• Changes to terms and conditions
• Undertaking conciliation and some advocacy
• Advising on and drafting settlement agreements
• HR policy and procedure
• Advice to Members and senior officers of the Council

We are looking for a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with a good knowledge of and signification post qualification
experience in employment law.
The successful Candidate will be dealing with all aspects of employment law and undertaking contentious and
non-contentious maters. They will be the sole employment specialist but will be working as part of a supportive legal
services team.
Candidates will report to the Legal Team Manager Corporate Projects and Property. They will be expected to work
closely with the Council’s HR department and project teams and provide advice to schools. Knowledge of TUPE as it
applies to transfer of commissioned services and to local authority employees and of LGPS and Fair Deal Pensions
schemes would assist.
Candidates must be flexible, enthusiastic and committed. They will have excellent communication skills, be able to work
under pressure and to prioritise their workload to meet tight deadlines. They will have the ability to work collaboratively
with project teams and client departments. They will be skilled at drafting legal documentation, providing concise and
clear advice, negotiating and carrying out legal research and analysis.
Experience gained in a Local Authority setting would assist as a sound understanding of local government together with
an appreciation of the challenges facing local authorities. However this is not essential for the right candidate.
