Group Solicitor – Social Care & Education Group

A vacancy for a Group Solicitor has arisen in the Legal Services department of Halton Borough Council within its Social Care and Education Group.

As a Group Solicitor you will be a member of Halton’s Legal Services Management Team and required to lead a team of solicitors, legal executive and legal assistants within the Social Care and Education Group, providing high quality legal advice to client directorates, schools, members and senior management in relation to all aspects of the social care and education responsibilities of the authority. To manage the legal aspects of debt recovery within the authority. To represent the authority in court and at multi agency meetings.

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in local government or in private practice and will have qualified as a solicitor or barrister. You will be a highly organised person and possess excellent IT and communication skills, an ability to work flexibly as part of the team and individually.

You will have knowledge of a wide range of areas as identified in the job description associated with the post .You will be an effective and concise communicator who can demonstrate experience and understanding of the need for political sensitivity & awareness. You will be capable of achieving targets and deadlines by managing your own workload and adapting to any unforeseen and urgent demands when necessary.
