An exciting opportunity has arisen for a planning/highways lawyer to join our Lexcel accredited legal services team at Cheshire West and Chester Council on a permanent contract. This role is in the Environment team which provides legal and professional support to the Council, in the areas of planning, highways, environment and regeneration law.

The successful candidate will be a solicitor, barrister, or fellow legal executive with a minimum of 2-year pqe, working for a planning authority and will be able to provide accurate, practical and timely legal advice with minimum supervision.

The main duties will be: providing planning advice; drafting and completing a range of planning and highway agreements; attend planning appeals and inquiries; advising on reports and attend Planning or other Committees; attending meetings and advising officers, members and Directors. You will also need to carry out legal research and support the legal managers and the Director of Governance.

The contractual work location for this role is Ellesmere Port however you may be required to work from a range of work locations or sites within the Borough and may also be required to work from home, depending on the needs of the service.
