Lawyer – Projects & Contracts (Growth Programme) sitting within the Contracts & Employment Team
Exciting and unique opportunity for a commercial contracts & projects solicitor to provide legal advice and support, with minimal supervision, to the numerous projects under the Council’s ambitious and transformative Growth Programme, including redevelopment/re-purposing of assets and facilities and other commercial opportunities. You will be a qualified solicitor with post qualification experience working either in private practice and/or in-house and have demonstrable experience of working on commercial projects and understanding of the contracts and procurement issues which arise within them. You will have a good knowledge of construction contracts, framework agreements, different operating models and project funding arrangements (including subsidy control considerations arising from grant funding). You will have the ability to identify and assess legal and procurement risk within a project to ensure that the Council is entering into prudent and best value commercial arrangements. You will coordinate the contract finalisation and execution process.
Sefton Council’s Corporate Legal Services is comprised of four legal teams with administrative support. The Contracts and Employment Team provide legal services in relation to all commercial projects, contract and procurement issues, and employment law.
