About The Role

Liverpool City Council is looking to recruit a Lawyer specialising in Special Educational Needs and Education matters.

The successful candidate will require an excellent working knowledge in key legislation, including The Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 and The Children and Families Act 2014. The role will involve holding an individual caseload of matters, including SEN appeals, General Education advice and Judicial Reviews and will require undertaking advocacy as necessary.

The post-holder will be expected to provide direct support to officers of the Council, leading the way on ensuring the Council meets its legal obligations and ensuring it is able to deliver a high quality and effective service for young people and their families; as such you should be able to develop and maintain good relationships with clients and key stakeholders, including delivering internal training.

The post will be located within a wider team of lawyers undertaking employment and litigation work and the post-holder will be expected to cross skill across disciplines. Experience in these areas of law and experience of working in local government is desirable but not essential.We offer a generous annual leave entitlement, local government pension scheme, flexible working arrangements and a work environment which gives you the chance to use and develop your skills within a forward-thinking service.
