The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated Legal Assistant to join us to provide high quality support to a team of adult social care lawyers.

You will provide support on a range of legal matters including those relating to the safeguarding of adults, Court of Protection proceedings, Ordinary Residence, Mental Health, Finance/Funding matters, NRPF/immigration, Care Act Advice, Forced Marriage, Policy Advice and Inquest work.

Responsibilities include preparation and maintenance of court bundles, filing and serving documents, identifying and booking counsel, requesting evidence, timetabling, drafting, minute taking of legal meetings, sitting behind counsel at hearings and preparing notes.

We are a close-knit team providing high quality advice working collaboratively with colleagues across services to promote best practice and outcomes. Personal development is promoted with opportunities to increase knowledge and experience alongside mentoring and peer support.

About You

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable knowledge and experience in legal assistant duties. You will have the ability to work to deadlines, be highly organised and enjoy working as part of a team. Excellent communication skills will be required, as well as the ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities. You will have the ability and confidence to work independently whilst knowing when to ask for support or guidance.

Whilst previous local authority and adult social care experience would be advantageous, we encourage applications from candidates who have private practice experience/experience in other areas of law within the same or similar roles or who have experience in other in-house roles where you possess the desired transferrable skills.
