Reference RELE01011-1
Closing Date 17th October 2023
We are proud to be of service for the City of Preston with its key priorities of:
Your Council, Your City and Fairness for You.
Preston has been identified as the most improved UK City according to Pricewaterhouse Cooper Good Growth for Cities index, highlighting the great progress the City has made – and is still making – alongside partners in the City.
The Council is focused on achieving a sustainable budget while delivering its key priorities. In particular, it has recently gathered increasing national attention for its focus on community wealth building, enhancing financial inclusion and supporting local businesses. Against a background of austerity and the pandemic the Council has single-mindedly focused on supporting the local economy and providing quality services to residents.
Preston City Council is committed to maximising its resources, and is dedicated to developing our employees. The Council is a family friendly employer, operating an excellent flexi-time scheme to support a healthy work/life balance.
The Legal Section is looking to recruit a reliable and ambitious Legal Assistant.
The successful candidate will deal with a range of legal matters including the drafting of planning and property transactions, Committee work, and providing support and cover in the absence of the Local Land Charges Officer and Local Land and Property Gazetteer Custodian.
It would be desirable to have a recognised legal qualification, but those with experience of working in a legal environment will be considered.
If you feel that you have the necessary qualities and commitment then I would encourage you to apply for this position within our team.
As an employer we like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of employee benefits including flexi time, hybrid working, a minimum of 25 days’ annual leave (plus Bank Holidays), family friendly policies, access to an Employee Assistance Programme, Local Government Pension Scheme, AVC’s, life assurance scheme, payment of professional fees, discounted parking, cycle to work scheme and discounted bus and rail fares.
If you have any questions or would like an informal discussion, please contact Caron Parmenter, Assistant Director (City Solicitor and Monitoring Officer) on c.parmenter@preston.gov.uk or on 01772 906373.
