St Helens Council invites applications for a Legal Officer within its Legal Services Team.  If you are a successful candidate, you will have a flexible approach to problem solving, demonstrating sound judgement and the capability to deal with unexpected situations.  You will be organised, an excellent communicator and an effective team member.  In providing legal services to the Council’s client departments, the post holder will be dealing with a range of legal work across the wide spectrum of local authority functions.

The successful candidate ideally will have litigation experience and will carry out a range of litigation work before both the magistrates and county courts.  The role will also include attendance as the legal advisor and clerk to the Independent Appeals Panel in relation to education appeals and exclusion reviews, (training on this can be provided).  The post holder will also provide general legal advice to all client departments of the Council.
