Following significant investment we are looking for 4 passionate and driven individuals to join us. This is an opportunity to work in an exciting and forward thinking local authority as part of a dynamic and multi-disciplinary legal department. Our roles operate on a hybrid approach to allow flexibility between home working and office working at the Cunard Building.

What will I be doing?

Our Legal officers support our lawyers and the wider legal team in a variety of activities, learning and developing skills along the way
You will carry out casework instructions received from lawyers and have personal responsibility for assisting with the progress of cases, ensuring value for money and efficient use of resources
You will support the team by liaising with courts, obtaining and organising documentation to meet the requests of the courts, providing support to clients, assisting with the creation of court bundles etc
You will be responsible for effective diary management, ensuring that court directions are complied with in a timely manner and delivered on time
You will use templates and precedents to draft legal documents / applications, utilising legal knowledge where appropriate
You will personally manage straightforward casework and, where required, attend at court/tribunals on behalf of the Council ensuring that the Council’s position is represented in the most cost effective and efficient manner
You will prepare reports, documents, minutes and correspondence on behalf of lawyers, taking notes at meetings/hearings as required, and assisting with the collection of data/information to support the Senior Lawyers and Heads of Law
