About the role / service

Solicitor – fixed term for 18 months

This is a fantastic opportunity for a planning solicitor wanting to be involved in complex and interesting planning matters and to gain experience to progress their local government careers given the level of member contact.

You will play an instrumental role in delivering the Council’s local plan by providing strategic planning and highways advice. You will work closely with both the planning and highways departments and act as the legal advisor to the Development Management Committee which meets on a monthly basis.

About you

We are looking for a qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with experience of providing planning and highways advice. In particular, on:-

Planning applications;
Section 106 agreements;
Certificates of lawful use;
Planning enforcement;
Advising planning committee;
Highway matters.

You will be confident in negotiating and drafting complex and high value agreements, working well under pressure and to tight deadlines. You will also be solution focused.
