An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialist SEND lawyer to work closely with the Council’s SEND team, advising and representing the Council in this area of work.

The role involves supporting the Council’s SEND team to meet its statutory obligations and representing the Council as required. The role holder will need to have a strong expertise in SEND legislation and will be responsible for day to day liaison with the client team including : Preparing applications; Drafting documents and correspondence; instructing expert witnesses; liaising with witnesses; attending client meetings; and providing advice and representation in courts or tribunals.

Working as part of a team that has a partnership approach to meeting the holistic needs of children and young people, you will be a solicitor who is proficient in Special Educational Needs and will need to be highly organised, a strong communicator with the ability to explain complex matters in clear manner, and have excellent attention to detail. You will need to demonstrate a commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people, and have the resilience and ability to prioritise caseloads and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines..
