Cumbria County Council are looking for an experienced and professional candidate to join us as Senior Lawyer Planning. We are welcoming applications from candidates with significant management experience who have delivered services at a high level of strategic and corporate importance.

Based in our Litigation & Environment Legal Team you will be responsible for dealing with all aspects of planning and PROW law. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly experienced Lawyer to take the next step and work in a key management role whilst also still managing complex casework.

As a Senior Lawyer you will not only oversee the day-to-day management and supervision of the wider team; you will also assist the Team Leader in ensuring the provision of the most appropriate and cost-effective method of meeting the Council’s requirements for legal services. This will include contributing to the management of the wider Legal Services and supporting the organisation in achieving a high standard of corporate governance.

You will be a strong and inspiring leader with knowledge in dealing with high profile applications in a minerals and waste authority and experience of commons and/or highways law. In addition you will need proven management experience in supervising team members and an ability to develop excellent relationships with the client and other professionals.
