Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) oversees public transport in Greater Manchester, delivering and improving transport services, facilities and information to make travel easier for everyone. This is a busy and exciting time for us: under the devolution agreement, and with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, transport will play a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London.

TfGM has an exciting opportunity for a qualified senior solicitor to support the commercial workload. As part of a supportive and valued legal team, you will be exposed to a diverse and interesting workload together with other general areas of law depending on experience. You will receive support from a highly experienced in-house team and as part of the senior legal team you will help to mentor and develop more junior legal officers.

You will have significant proven experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts with the ability to manage a large caseload of commercial contracts as well as managing the legal commercial workstream on projects and procurements, advising on contracting strategy, commercial terms and risk.   As a senior member of the legal team, you will also be able to demonstrate sound commercial acumen and the understanding of risk and mitigation. Experience in other fields of law including public law and administration, equalities and transport regulation would be beneficial to the role.

This is a 2 Year Fixed Term Contract opportunity.

The salary range for this role is £51,252- £57,688 per annum.  Salary on appointment will be dependent upon your skills and experience.
