A vacancy for a Solicitor has arisen in the Legal Services department of Halton Borough Council within its Environmental and Licensing Group.

Halton Borough Council have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Solicitor to join a small in-house legal team providing high quality, timely and business focused legal advice to the Council, its committees and departments to enable the proper and effective discharge of its many services.

Based in Cheshire with excellent transport links between Liverpool and Manchester and excellent proximity to both Liverpool John Lennon and Manchester Airports

The role

The post offers a full and varied personal caseload including advice, support and representation across a mix of areas of legal work undertaken by the Council. You will also act as an advocate in courts, tribunals and inquiries on behalf of the Council.

The role offers the right candidate the chance to make a real difference to the lives of ordinary people whilst working in a very wide and varied area and continuing to develop skills and experience in a multitude of legal areas.

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in local government or in private practice and will have qualified as a solicitor or barrister. You will be a highly organised person and possess excellent IT and communication skills and an ability to work flexibly as part of the team and also individually.

You will have knowledge of a wide range of areas as identified in the job description associated with the post .You will be an effective and concise communicator who can demonstrate experience and understanding of the need for political sensitivity & awareness. You will be capable of achieving targets and deadlines by managing your own workload and adapting to any unforeseen and urgent demands when necessary.
