About us;

Newcastle Borough Council have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Solicitor to join a small in-house legal team providing high quality, timely and business focused legal advice to the Council, its committees and departments to enable the proper and effective discharge of its many services.

The role;

The post offers a full and varied personal caseload including advice, support and representation across a mix of areas of legal work undertaken by the Council. You will also act as an advocate in courts, tribunals and inquiries on behalf of the Council.

About you;

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in local government or in private practice and will have qualified as a solicitor, barrister or legal executive.

You will be an effective and concise communicator who can demonstrate experience and understanding of the need for political sensitivity & awareness. You will be capable of achieving targets and deadlines by managing your own workload and adapting to any unforeseen and urgent demands when necessary.
