South Lakeland District Council is seeking to recruit a solicitor within the Legal Services Team. The post is based at the Council’s head offices in Kendal.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing property advice to clients on conveyancing transactions, both freehold and leasehold of registered and unregistered land, including sales, purchases, deeds of exchange, leases, tenancy agreements, licences, easements and compulsory purchase orders.
Other duties will include dealing with a range of contractual matters including providing advice and drafting. You will attend Council committees and working groups as required providing advice to officers and elected members. You will also demonstrate the ability to work well as an individual and as a member of our team.
The successful candidate will need to possess a relevant degree and a current practising certificate. Previous experience in conveyancing and either Local Government, Planning law, Contract law or Procurement is essential. They will also require good IT literacy skills and have the ability to use electronic publications for the purpose of legal work and research.
