Team Lawyer – Place
Salary: Grade 10, £37,890 – £41,881 per annum.
37 hours per week
As a Team Lawyer Place you will be part of a client focussed and outcomes driven legal and democratic function.
You will operate in the areas of law of Land and Property, Contracts and Procurement, Major Projects and Regeneration, Property related Housing and Land Charges, Planning and Highways, Regulation and General Litigation and Common Law matters. You will work closely with client officers, Elected Members, partner organisations and other key stakeholders to assist them in the delivery of their service objectives and priorities.
You will handle a legal caseload which could include complex and significant matters, drafting complex and significant legal documents engaging in detailed negotiations with parties as appropriate You will advise, prepare and conduct proceedings acting as an advocate for the Council at court, tribunals, inquiries and other statutory and legislative hearings.
We would be especially interested in hearing from candidates with a background in Contracts and Procurement or Commercial Property or Major Projects and Regeneration or a combination of these areas.
You will be an admitted Solicitor entitled to a current practicing certificate or have an alternative Barrister or Legal Executive qualification. You will also have post qualification experience in at least two areas of law relevant to the roles areas of operation. You will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and professional individual with experience of providing legal advice to assist and guide clients when making decisions.
You will have experience of handling a personal caseload of legal cases which could include complex and signification matters. You will also be expected to advise, prepare and conduct proceedings acting as an advocate for the Council at court, tribunals, inquiries and other statutory and legislative hearings.
You will have a proven track record in a pressured and deadline driven environment and be able to represent the service and the Council at a local and regional level as necessary.
